Paakow Essandoh

What’s your story? Who is Paakow?

My name is Paakow Essandoh. I am 25 and I am the chief and founder of Mizizzi international. I'm Ghanian, I was raised in Dallas, Texas, but I went to school at the University of South Florida.

What is Mizzizi International?

Mizizzi is the official streetwear brand for the diaspora. We make jerseys representing different countries and cultures all across the world to show the world  how cool we are and how connected and represented we are.  Mizizzi originally was a project for me to make black friends at college. Over the course of a year and a half,  I developed the idea, found manufacturers, officially launched on August 30th, 2015, and I haven't looked back since. I want the Mizizzi brand to feel like a cool new African kid, and I feel like it's just a reflection of me.

What was your most recent drop?

We haven't dropped too much this year because of COVID, but the last jersey we did drop was our Sudanese soccer jersey, paying homage to the Mattar blue movements in Sudan. So we made it blue and donated a percentage of the proceeds to Sudan's first women's soccer team. That was January 1st, which is Sudan's independence day.

What’s coming up from Mizzizzi?

So we've been working with, trying to go three for three when it comes to movie collaborations. So there's another one that's coming out at the end of December. That I'm excited for that we are currently working on putting together like a Jersey and a campaign for.
